TOWN OF YOUNTVILLE PUBLIC ART WALK

The Town of Yountville's "Yountville Public Art Walk", featuring sculptures by Napa artist Gordon Huether, will kick off on June 3, 2010 with an opening reception for the public beginning at the Town of Yountville Community Center at 6 PM. The reception will include music by Leigh Wyckoff and wine and appetizers donated by local businesses. After opening remarks, guests are encouraged to stroll through town to view all of the recently installed sculptures.

The Yountville Public Art Walk was designed to create an art experience in the Town of Yountville by placing sculpture throughout the main pedestrian areas of the town. "As a local artist, I am proud to be taking the lead in adding another layer of culture for residents and visitors to the Town of Yountville," said Huether.

The sculptures have been loaned to the town for one year and any sales of the sculptures during that period will result in a 15% sales commission for the town. Income generated from sales commissions will be used to support arts-related events and activities in the Town of Yountville.

ABOUT GORDON HUETHER STUDIO
Gordon Huether has mastered the challenge of creating art in a multitude of environments and mediums. The scale of his work ranges from large architectural installations for public commissions, to small, intimate works of art for private collections and residences.

Since founding Gordon Huether Studio in Napa, California in 1987, Huether has worked extensively with glass on a large scale and has also created works incorporating salvaged materials, bronze, aluminum, steel, light, water and neon. All work is fabricated at Gordon Huether Studio by artisans who are internationally recognized for their creativity, technical ability and craftsmanship.

Huether's talent for intuitively reacting to the materials and the space they occupy, whether indoors or out, has led to the successful completion of over 50 public art projects and 150 private art commissions.

In 2009, Huether was the recipient of several awards, including the Americans for the Arts Public Art Network (PAN) Best Public Artwork in the U.S. Award for his Gotta Go public art installation at the Jacksonville International Airport. The Bridge Homeless Assistance Center in Dallas, featuring art glass windows by Huether,  received two American Institute of Architects 2009 Special Housing Awards.
